I spent 6 months responding to Hurricane Ian. The Category 4 storm that made landfall in Southwest Florida. The scale of the storm, and the damage it caused is hard to quantify. You could drive in one direction for hours and would see signs of destruction the entire way.

The team I was part of organized hundreds of volunteers that poured thousands and thousands of hours into Southwest Florida. Ultimately, some of the mobile homes we rehabilitated were condemned. However, many people we worked with were able to return to their homes and continue to rebuild.
